Dangerous women Sally Field and Jane Fonda.
For too long women have been oppressed by their male husbands, bosses, and political leaders. It is frankly time all women take their place alongside their male counterparts in governing or determining how we will be governed. They must cast off dominance for dominates sake.
This election in 2020 will undoubtedly come down to the turn-out and the voting pattern of women.
This is not to say there have not been many courageous women for that is how women, and frankly society as a whole, have come as far as we have. History is full of women of courage and substance. But for too long, too many others have skated on the efforts of the few.
In this video and interview from Democracy Now we learn of some of these current "Dangerous Women".
Democracy Now - Media legend Pat Mitchell is the author of a new book, “Becoming a Dangerous Woman: Embracing Risk to Change the World.” In it, she shares her life story, rising from her grandparents’ small cotton farm with no electricity to become the first woman president of PBS, CNN Productions and the Paley Center for Media.
Mitchell includes in her book the voices of other “dangerous” women: Stacey Abrams, Ai-jen Poo, Ava DuVernay, Mary Robinson, Abigail Disney, Christine Schuler Deschryver, Kimberlé Crenshaw, Zoya, Monique Wilson, Laura Flanders, Jacqueline Novogratz, Sandi Toksvig, Ruth Ann Harnisch and Meagan Fallone. Pat Mitchell speaks with us from Atlanta, Georgia.
“Our single most dangerous act, actually, is preparing each other, supporting each other, showing up for each other, sponsoring, mentoring, championing each other,” Mitchell says. “We are living in dangerous times, and such times require of us to become more dangerous to meet those challenges.”
Old white men must not be allowed to continue their domination of our political infrastructure as they have in the past. The human condition is now too fragile from their continued filibustering, naked corruption, everyday gamesmanship and nonsense. One only has to be paying minimal attention to see the Middle East is in shambles, the environment is quickly deteriorating to inhabitable, and democracy is in rapid decline worldwide.
Why? Because many men have shown themselves to be too reckless, too emotional and angry, or too irrational to be trusted alone with the safety of their own families much less their neighbors or much less the world. Dangerous women please step forward and sane men will follow to save the world.
